Heather Rasmussen, Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen 2010

Heather Rasmussen, Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen 2010 is a Freshman at Owasso Mid-High School in Owasso, Oklahoma.  She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, received the 2009 Top English Award and currently has a 4.0 GPA.  She is the President of the  Future Career Community Leaders of America and is a member of Student Council. Heather has received the 2010 Go Pro Top Scholarship as well as the 2009 Student of Character Award.

Heather began dancing at the age of three.  She is an award winning dancer with such honors as Rainbow Connection 2008 Dancer of the Year, Top Ten Finalist in the National Dance Competition and was the lead dancer of Clara in the holiday classic – The Nutcracker.  Heather continues to perform solo’s as well as with her dance group all during the year.

Over the next year, Heather is excited to promote her platform of Healthy Choices/Healthy Me.  With Oklahoma ranked as the second most obese state in the nation, she will work with schools, sports teams and volunteer organizations to help educate them on the possibilities of healthy choices for everyone.  Heather believes that creative educating is the key component to her program.  She uses a variety of activities designed to motivate children by focusing on the concept that not only is exercise important, but that is can be fun.

Heather is the daughter of Carl and Andrea Friend and Eric Rasmussen of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She has one brother Mason.

Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2011 Lacey Russ

Lacey Russ - Oklahoma Official HeadshotLacey Russ, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2011, is a 16 year-old Senior attending Cordell High School in Cordell, Oklahoma. Lacey is ranked First in her class with a 4.0 G.P.A., has received the President’s Academic Achievement Award, All-American Scholar, the Outstanding Academic Performance, and scored in the Top Five Percent of the ACT. Lacey was selected for the prestigious Leadership Oklahoma’s Youth Leadership Class and been named to the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

Lacey is an accomplished vocalist and pianist, as well as writes her own lyrics and music. Being a diversified performer, Lacey was named to the Honor Band, First Chair Flute as well as being an All-Star and All-American Cheerleader. Sometimes performing even means joining the team! That’s right – Lacey is a member of the Cordell Girls Basketball team. Watch out – she can sing, play an instrument and has a great three-pointer!

During her reign as Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen, Lacey looks forward to promoting her platform P.U.R.E. Excellence. During the past four years, she has worked with Oklahoma youth throughout the state discussing their options and endless possibilities. She has great hope for the youth of Oklahoma to help them better their self-esteem, show them by leading by example and most of all – challenging them to LIVE BEST not just better.
