Miss Oklahoma 2014 Alex Eppler

Alex Eppler - Crown 8x10Alex is a graduate of The University of Oklahoma with a degree in Medical Science and a minor in Health and Exercise Science. During her undergraduate career she was involved with various activities across campus which included: Dance Marathon, The Big Event, LEAD Team, Habitat for Humanity, Crimson Club, Campus Activities Council, Honors College, Homecoming, Pre-Med Club, Sooner Dance Company, Crimson Beat and more. Alex was awarded Outstanding Senior in 2012 and graduated with honors as a member of the Arts and Sciences College.

After graduating, Alex became a teacher at a school called The Academy in Oklahoma City. Alex taught 8th grade physical science, 9th grade earth science, 10th grade biology, 11th grade chemistry and 12th grade physics.

Alex has volunteered with various medical clinics, organizations and hospitals as she plans to become a physician’s assistant after her reign as Miss Oklahoma. Alex has worked with in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, Mexico and even Kenya teaching health seminars, treating patients. While in Kenya, Alex helped treat over 5,000 patients in the slum of Kibera, the largest slum in Africa. Alex taught a community education class on mental health and helped the providers diagnose and treat patients.

Dare 2 Care: Random Acts of Kindness is Alex’s heart and mission as Miss Oklahoma. She hopes to spread the message, the power and the impact that kindness can have on others. Alex has spoken to over 28,000 individuals across the state of Oklahoma on her platform. While attending OU, Alex started the first new campus wide event in thirteen years, Random Acts of Kindness Day. Alex also took this message into the Edmond middle schools where the schools participated in 28 Days of Kindness during the month of February.

After graduating, Alex taught a weekly hip-hop class at The Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma City. Alex will compete for the title of Miss America with dance as her choice of talent. Through competing in the Miss America system, Alex has been awarded over $40,000 in cash scholarships.

Alex plans to travel the state as Miss Oklahoma leaving a legacy of kindness through her platform. Alex hopes to implement Random Acts of Kindness in all schools and equip each school with the curriculum and tools it needs to make Random Acts of Kindness an annual event in February. Alex also hopes to create a mentoring match program within the Miss Oklahoma organization that pairs potential contestants with former contestants or title holders to share knowledge and their own personal skill sets with young women who would have never thought they could compete to become Miss Oklahoma.

Alex is daughter of Mike and Liz Eppler, and is a proud sister of her siblings Jordan (sister), 25 and Austin (brother), 22.
