TULSA, OK – Forty candidates from across the state of Oklahoma competed for the title of Miss Oklahoma. Ashleigh Robinson (Miss Oklahoma City) was crowned the winner on June 12, at the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa. Robinson receives a $20,000 cash scholarship to further her education and will represent Oklahoma in the Miss America Competition in December.
For the talent competition, Robinson selected a vocal performance to, “God Help the Outcasts.” Her social Impact Initiative is, “Inclusion for All Abilities.” Her mission is to seek to create better communities through equitable opportunity and a culture of inclusivity, where all are seen, heard, and valued. Robinson is a graduate from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelors of Music. She is pursuing a graduate degree in leadership and public service.
The remaining top five finalists included, first runner-up, Miss OSU, Julianne Thomison, receiving a $9,000 scholarship; second runner-up, Miss Sooner State, Michella Wilson, receiving a $6,500 scholarship; third runner-up, Miss Oklahoma State Fair, Ashley Ehrhart, receiving a $4,500 scholarship; and fourth runner-up, Miss Oil Capital, Sunny Day, receiving a $3,500. Additional scholarships were awarded during the competition. All forty candidates received a minimum of a $750 scholarship.
The Miss America Organization is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. 2021 marks a historic year for MAO as the nationally recognized nonprofit celebrates its 100th anniversary this fall. Each year, the MAO makes available millions in cash and tuition scholarship assistance. This assistance is not just for the handful of young women who become Miss America, but is available to all young women who compete in the state and local competitions across the nation. The organization stands for empowering young women across the country to be the best they can be through leadership, talent, communication skills and smarts.
