Miss Oklahoma Local Titleholders take part in the Red Cross volunteer service event for the 20th anniversary of the OKC bombing
Oklahoma City, Wednesday, April 8 — The Miss Oklahoma contestants and volunteers will be taking part in the American Red Cross of Oklahoma’s volunteer project in memory of the Oklahoma City bombing. The Red Cross event will mark the 20th anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building.
The volunteer project goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on April 18. The event will have Miss Oklahoma 2014 and the 2015 Miss Oklahoma and Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen contestants stuffing 2,000 comfort kits for emergency responders attending the 20th anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building on April 19.
This volunteer project with the Oklahoma Red Cross will unite the Miss Oklahoma winners and contestants with the national efforts of both organizations.
On Saturday, April 18, Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev along with Miss America state titleholders from across the country will be called upon to participate in “Miss America Serves” – a national day of volunteer service.
Miss America Serves will bring together Miss America contestants and volunteers from our state organizations to create service events that address critical needs in their communities. There are many activities planned on this special day to salute volunteerism and community service across the country.
“We hope to continue giving our young women the opportunity to create a legacy of service by participating in this special event to show our organization’s commitment to volunteerism and inspire others to find ways to seek out service in their own communities,” Sam Haskell, Miss America Organization’s Chairman said.
