Sarah Simpson of Elk City is the new Miss SWOSU and Lacey Russ of Cordell won the title of Miss SWOSU Outstanding Teen at this past Saturday’s (November 14) pageants held at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.Simpson will represent SWOSU at next summer’s Miss Oklahoma Pageant, while Russ advances to the Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant, which is held the same week at the Miss Oklahoma Pageant in Tulsa.Simpson won the title and a $2,300 scholarship. Simpson is a sophomore majoring in business. Her platform issue is breast cancer awareness. Simpson also won the swimsuit, talent, crowd pleaser and most tickets sold competitions.Alyssa Troy of Woodward finished as first runnerup. The sophomore won a $1,300 scholarship. Finishing second runnerup was sophomore Tanya Harrelson of Wichita Falls (TX) who won a $900 scholarship. Harrelson, along with Tori Nichols of Oklahoma City, tied for the most scholarship patrons sold award.Kelsey Haught of Altus won the peer respect and leadership award. All non-finalists each won $250 SWOSU scholarships.For winning the Miss SWOSU Outstanding Teen title, Russ won a $500 scholarship to SWOSU and various gifts and certificates from area businesses. She also won the talent award.Molly Kitchen of Tulsa (Metro Christian Academy) finished as first runnerup. She won a $200 scholarship to SWOSU and various gifts and certificates. Allie Ayers of Snyder finished as second runnerup and winner of the crowd pleaser and most tickets sold awards. She won a $150 scholarship to SWOSU. Payton Berrong of Weatherford won the most scholarship patrons sold award.All non-finalists in the teen pageant each won $100 SWOSU scholarships.
